English and my first trip to the US (North-South Carolina)

On my former article a talked a little bit about my first visit to the US, my first time in New York. Today I wanna continue speaking about my experience, but the purpose of these articles is to show you that learning to speak English is possible and you can get awesome results.

After leaving New York City, which was a really good experience, we headed to north carolina. When we got to the John F. kennedy airport a woman from Guyana carried our baggage and helped us out with my grandma to check in. Talking to this woman was kind of funny for two reasons, one because our conversation started like this, at first she began talking to me about the airline we were gonna fly on and then she talked to my dad asking him where we were from, when my dad said we were from Colombia, she turned to me and said “But you're from here, right?”, when I said no, she said “then you had a great English teacher kid, 'cause you speak really good”.

When this woman said that, I thought it was really funny because since the moment I talked to her I was trying to make a big effort to understand what she was saying, actually I had never heard an English accent like hers, but even so, she thought that I was a great speaker and knowing this made me feel really happy with my English.

We flew to North Carolina and landed on a small city called charlotte, completely different than New York I must say, this is kind of a lonely place where everyone is inside malls, stores, buildings and houses, I must admit that if it wasn't because of my cousins who live there, north carolina would've been really boring, but I had a lot of fun and English conversations though.

I went to a video-game store and a guy saw me looking at some PS3 video-games, the guy just started talking to me about video-games. That was really cool because it was a fluid conversation and it was about a topic I know pretty well.

I got to know several places in the carolinas, I went to a park called carowinds with my cousins and it was pretty fun, even though we needed more time to ride all the attractions. It was really good spending time with family, but the best part of going to the carolinas was when we went to myrtle beach on south carolina, there were so many things to do that we didn't have enough time to enjoy everything.

Myrtle beach is a little city close to the ocean, during the day you can find lots of different restaurants and different activities to do like going to the beach, the pool, do several sports, etc. During the nights you can find a lot of parties going on and lots of people just walking around the area, in my humble opinion Myrtle beach was a really cool place.

In conclusion, Charlotte (North Carolina) is a really quiet place, I'd call it a very familiar place. Myrtle beach (South Carolina) is a really awesome place to visit during summer, I would've liked to have more time to spend in this place, but another day will come!
